PB Screenshot Plug-In Installation Guide for your Webbrowser

Installation is a relatively simple two steps.

  • 1. Download npiepbss.dll and copy it to your plugins folder for your browser. Usually C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\
  • 2. Download the registry fix here. To install the fix, simply double click the downloaded file. Click yes when you are prompted to add the settings to the registry.

This is what is added to your registry...

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/x-png-pbss]
    "CLSID"="{06DD38D3-D187-11CF-A80D-00C04FD74AD8}"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{06DD38D3-D187-11CF-A80D-00C04FD74AD8}]
    "Compatibility Flags"=dword:00000000

This tells Internet Explorer how to handle the mime type application/x-png-pbss. This is the mime type used by this plugin.

Sorry for the hoops you have to leap through. You can thank Microsoft for breaking Netscape Plugin compatibility.

HINT! Some versions of Internet Explorer require the above dll to be called nppbss.dll. If this is the case, try renaming the dll.

Installation for other browsers

    • Mozilla - c:\program files\mozilla.org\mozilla\plugins\
